Principal Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as a hands-on technical leader for complex, cross-domain initiatives
• Define and drive system architecture and engineering standards across the organization
• Design and build large-scale, distributed, event-driven systems
• Implement AI agent workflows and intelligent systems, including orchestration and evaluation patterns
• Establish best practices for AI-enabled development, observability, and guardrails
• Lead cross-domain design decisions using frameworks like RFCs and ADRs
• Coach engineers and raise the overall engineering bar across multiple teams
• Partner with product and business teams to align technology with business outcomes

Requirements

• 12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• Expertise in building and operating large-scale distributed systems
• Strong proficiency in system design, scalability, and cloud-native architectures
• Experience designing or implementing AI/ML systems or AI agent workflows
• Proven experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka)
• Deep understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and platform engineering
• Ability to lead and influence multiple engineering teams through technical excellence

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of data platforms or SAP ecosystems
• Experience with retail or supply chain systems
• Experience driving large-scale architectural and organizational transformations
