Principal Engineer, Autonomy

Responsibilities

• Own the design and evolution of the perception stack, including detection, classification, tracking, and multi-modal sensor fusion
• Own the prediction stack and design models for intent inference, behavior forecasting, and handling edge cases
• Own the design of the planning and decision-making stack for autonomous GSE operations
• Set technical direction at the interfaces between autonomy modules to ensure end-to-end system coherence
• Own the functional and software architecture of the autonomy stack

Requirements

• 15+ years of hands-on experience building production autonomy systems
• Proven track record of shipping autonomy components on real vehicles at scale
• Experience as a senior individual contributor setting technical direction and mentoring engineers
• Deep technical expertise in perception, prediction, or planning
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in C++ and Python
• Proficiency with modern deep learning for autonomy, including training and deployment
• Experience with ROS / ROS 2 and on-vehicle distributed systems
• Strong bias for execution and converting ambiguity into running code

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with safety-critical or functional-safety systems (ISO 26262, ISO 13849, SOTIF, or aerospace equivalents)
• Experience in ODDs involving heavy human interaction or unstructured environments
• Familiarity with simulation-driven verification and CI/CD pipelines for autonomy
