Principal Engineer: Automation - DeltaV

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to automation engineers to build and maintain automation systems supporting GMP Drug Substance Plant Operations.
• Develop and maintain process control solutions using DeltaV DCS, HMI, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Collaborate with process subject matter experts to transform requirements into digital automated solutions.
• Support computerized systems validation processes in a GxP environment and maintain Data Integrity Assessments.
• Lead technical root cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting for process control issues.
• Manage automation system administration, including OS HotFix assessments, preventative maintenance, and spare parts management.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff through technical training and leadership development plans.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and new technology deployments through automation engineering assessments and configuration changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Manufacturing Automation Engineering experience (or equivalent experience/education as specified in basic qualifications).
• Extensive experience with DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS).
• Proficiency in process control, HMI, and BMS.
• Working knowledge of GxP and GMP environments.
• Experience with system integration technologies such as OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Chemical, or Biotech Engineering.
• Direct experience with biopharmaceutical production equipment including bioreactors, chromatography, and filtration systems.
• Experience with PLC systems or Siemens Desigo BAS.
• Familiarity with GAMPs, 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, and S95 standards.
• Experience in Capital Project Lifecycle Management, from conceptual design through validation.
