Principal Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and development of scalable real-time collaboration systems using Java, Node.js, WebSockets, and REST APIs
• Design and drive distributed, event-driven microservices architectures with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and latency
• Own platform capabilities end-to-end, including engineering practices, quality, deployment, and operational excellence
• Lead large, ambiguous technical initiatives from requirements clarification through successful delivery
• Drive technical discussions and alignment across teams, architects, and product management
• Act as a technical leader during production incidents, driving root cause analysis and systemic improvements
• Mentor engineers and elevate engineering excellence through design reviews and technical guidance

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with expertise in backend and distributed systems
• Deep hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, WebSockets, and real-time systems
• Proficiency with AWS cloud services, Redis, and Docker
• Proven experience building scalable, highly available distributed platforms and microservices
• Strong understanding of concurrency, event-driven systems, caching, and fault-tolerant architectures
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Node.js
• Experience with Kafka
