Principal Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and operations of highly scalable, distributed, and data-intensive microservices
• Partner with Software Architects, Product Managers, and Engineering Managers to design technical solutions that drive business outcomes
• Champion industry best practices to push development standards and maintain clean, maintainable code
• Help meet SLAs for large-scale microservices through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization
• Lead detection, recovery, and postmortems for production incidents
• Hire and mentor engineers to help build fast-growing, high-performing teams
• Perform thorough design and code reviews

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of experience building and running large-scale systems
• Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with Information Retrieval using Lucene, ElasticSearch, or OpenSearch
• Exceptional proficiency in Java or a similar programming language
• Expertise in cloud infrastructure platforms, specifically AWS
• Thorough understanding of database systems (e.g., MySQL, DynamoDB) including scalability and consistency
• Experience with modern technology stacks, API design, microservices, and stream processing

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Vector Databases and ML Infrastructure
• Knowledge of Knowledge Graphs or Graph Databases
• Experience monitoring and improving the reliability of complex systems at scale
• Awareness of security and compliance challenges in cloud products and platforms
