About the role
Responsibilities
- Establish comprehensive EMI/EMC requirements, specifications, control plans, and design guidelines for the launch vehicle and all subsystems
- Perform analyses for conducted/radiated emissions & susceptibility, bonding/grounding, lightning effects, ESD, and spacecraft charging
- Collaborate with avionics, RF, power, propulsion, structures, and software teams to integrate EMI/EMC best practices
- Develop and execute EMI/EMC test plans, including pre-compliance screening and formal qualification
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause investigations for EMI/EMC problems
- Create and maintain all EMI/EMC documentation and certification packages
- Define, procure, and oversee EMI/EMC test facilities and equipment
- Ensure full compliance and certification against standards including MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-464D, and NASA-STD-4003
Requirements
- 5+ years of EMI/EMC engineering experience in aerospace (launch vehicles, spacecraft, or aircraft)
- Advanced degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related fields
- Experience with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and NASA-STD-4003 documentation
- Knowledge of in-atmosphere and in-space EMI/EMC effects, including plasma and charging
- Knowledge of material electrical properties (anodize, alodine, conductivity, etc.)
- Experience troubleshooting EMI events from system to board level
- Proficiency with spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, antennas, LISNs, and current probes
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as SPICE, HFSS, or CST
- Strong knowledge of RF principles and RF engineering
- Ability to work primarily on-site in Kent, WA
