Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, and integrate electronic equipment and integrated circuitry for high-performance real-time hardware systems
- Oversee the electrical hardware development lifecycle from requirements through design, test, integration, and manufacturing
- Evaluate design approaches using analytic, simulation, and prototyping methods
- Produce design documentation and provide engineering support for system design reviews and testing
- Mentor team members and provide expert technical guidance to the electrical engineering group
- Establish and evolve best practices for the Electrical Engineering department
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
- 12+ years of experience developing complex electrical systems for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability applications
- 5+ years of experience leading electrical architecture development for complex airborne or mission-critical systems
- Expertise in subsystem electrical architecture and real-time embedded hardware
- Experience with military environmental and safety standards (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810)
- Proficiency with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with FPGAs, SoCs, firmware, and embedded software development
- Experience with PCBA design and simulation software such as Altium
- Knowledge of high-speed memory (DDR3/DDR4) and digital interfaces (PCIe, DisplayPort, USB 3.0, Ethernet)
- Familiarity with aircraft communication protocols (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, CAN)
- Understanding of ISO/IEEE 15288 systems development lifecycle standards
