Principal Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the digital and mixed-signal design of VPX-style embedded computing cards from concept through production
• Translate product requirements into implementable digital circuits and complete schematic designs
• Design circuits for embedded systems, including interfacing Processors/DSP, FPGA/CPLD, Flash, and RAM
• Lead PWB design and layout, including high-speed signal routing, differential pairs, and controlled impedance
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering on board form, fit, thermal, and mounting considerations
• Execute test plans to validate design performance and support product qualification
• Transition designs to manufacturing by providing complete design packages and technical documentation

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 10+ years of relevant experience in circuit board design
• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance
• Proficiency with design software for schematic capture, PWB layout, and routing
• Hands-on experience interfacing DSP, FPGA, Flash, and RAM with a solid understanding of communication protocols
• Ability to perform low-level PCB troubleshooting and debug

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• Experience with PADS Design, PADS Layout, and PADS Router
• Experience with VHDL code, simulation, and FPGA design for high assurance products
• Knowledge of ANSI/VITA VPX Standards and MIL-DTL-23200 requirements
• Experience with AS9100 requirements and Agile Development processes
