Principal Database Administrator

Responsibilities

• Identify and translate customer needs into viable database design solutions using sound engineering principles
• Work closely with Systems and Software Engineers to implement and modify backend databases
• Perform database administration activities using the Linux command line
• Troubleshoot complex database issues including disaster recovery, replication, backups, and performance optimization
• Manage database security controls and ensure adherence to audit and compliance requirements
• Automate routine administrative tasks to improve efficiency

Requirements

• STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
• Minimum of 8 years of Database Administration experience
• Extensive experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), specifically Oracle Exadata and Oracle Intelligent Advisor (OIA)
• Proficiency with Linux command line for database administration
• Current Security+ certification or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire
• Active and transferable Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required on day one

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience virtualizing or containerizing databases
• Experience with AWS cloud environments
• Proficiency with NoSQL database products such as MongoDB and DynamoDB
• Experience working with Spatial databases
• Coding experience in SQL, Python, or Java
