Principal Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage enterprise-grade Oracle database platforms to ensure scalability, availability, and resilience.
• Lead cloud transformation initiatives by adopting Oracle databases on public cloud platforms including OCI, Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Automate database lifecycle management and provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Optimize database performance through proactive monitoring, SQL tuning, and capacity planning using AWR/ASH.
• Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions using RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
• Enforce database security standards, including encryption (TDE), auditing, and access control, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Define and enforce Oracle database standards, best practices, and operational guidelines within a Center of Excellence (COE) model.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead large-scale database migrations and modernization projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in database engineering/administration, with at least 5 years focused on Oracle platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Database (11g–23c), including RAC, Data Guard, and ASM.
• Proven experience managing Oracle databases in public cloud environments (OCI, Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or ARM.
• Strong scripting skills in Shell or Python.
• Expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and high availability design.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and security tools (OEM, Splunk, CyberArk, or Guardium).

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle certifications (OCP, OCM) or major cloud provider certifications.
• Experience working in highly regulated industries such as Healthcare or Finance.
• Hands-on experience with Exadata (on-prem or cloud) and Autonomous Database.
• Exposure to multi-database ecosystems including PostgreSQL or MSSQL.
