About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage enterprise-grade Oracle database platforms to ensure scalability, availability, and resilience.
- Lead cloud transformation initiatives by adopting Oracle databases on public cloud platforms including OCI, Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Automate database lifecycle management and provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Optimize database performance through proactive monitoring, SQL tuning, and capacity planning using AWR/ASH.
- Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions using RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
- Enforce database security standards, including encryption (TDE), auditing, and access control, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Define and enforce Oracle database standards, best practices, and operational guidelines within a Center of Excellence (COE) model.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead large-scale database migrations and modernization projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in database engineering/administration, with at least 5 years focused on Oracle platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Database (11g–23c), including RAC, Data Guard, and ASM.
- Proven experience managing Oracle databases in public cloud environments (OCI, Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or ARM.
- Strong scripting skills in Shell or Python.
- Expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and high availability design.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and security tools (OEM, Splunk, CyberArk, or Guardium).
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle certifications (OCP, OCM) or major cloud provider certifications.
- Experience working in highly regulated industries such as Healthcare or Finance.
- Hands-on experience with Exadata (on-prem or cloud) and Autonomous Database.
- Exposure to multi-database ecosystems including PostgreSQL or MSSQL.
