Principal Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize self-hosted database and data warehousing solutions
• Oversee performance tuning, hardware planning, and OS-level monitoring
• Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines
• Drive large-scale technical projects from design to delivery
• Establish code and architecture review standards
• Ensure infrastructure and pipelines comply with government policies and GDPR
• Partner with data scientists and analysts to translate requirements into scalable infrastructure

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or backend infrastructure
• Proven focus on managing self-hosted/on-premise environments
• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB
• Proficiency in SQL and Linux/Unix environments
• Experience with ETL orchestration tools like Dagster or Airflow
• In-depth knowledge of data warehousing and relational data modeling
• Ability to communicate technical decisions to stakeholders
