About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead Operational Technology programs and oversee critical process automation, DCS, and SCADA platforms.
  • Direct the development, integration, and ongoing optimization of complex automation systems.
  • Manage a team responsible for supporting networks that power water, wastewater, and recycled water operations.
  • Mentor staff, drive performance, and foster a collaborative, high-performing environment.
  • Oversee project lifecycles, including defining scope, schedules, budgets, and system testing.
  • Partner with internal teams, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure system integration and cybersecurity alignment.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and track performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in the design, implementation, and administration of process automation and control systems.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from the International Society of Automation (ISA) as a Certified Control Systems Professional.
  • Certification from the International Society of Automation (ISA) as a Certified Control Systems Technician.
  • California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Electrical and Instrumentation Technologist Grade 3 Certification.
