About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead regulatory strategy for major capital projects by defining impact assessment and permitting strategies aligned with client business objectives.
- Serve as a senior advisor to executives and project sponsors, providing guidance on regulatory pathways and approval risks.
- Direct the delivery of complex impact assessment applications across federal, provincial, and territorial regimes.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams of biophysical, social, and regulatory specialists to ensure high-quality, timely submissions.
- Drive commercial outcomes through proposal development, scope definition, and client relationship management.
- Mentor and develop junior talent, including senior consultants and managers, to maintain technical and commercial excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, environmental management, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in impact assessment, regulatory permitting, or senior environmental advisory roles.
- Deep knowledge of Canadian federal, provincial, and territorial regulatory frameworks (specifically BC, AB, YT, or NU).
- Proven experience leading complex regulatory approvals and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to advise clients at the executive and project sponsor level.
- Experience working with Indigenous Nations and public stakeholders in regulatory contexts.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently to client locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in impact assessment or regulatory advisory roles.
- Eligibility to obtain a professional designation (e.g., RPBio).
- Fluency in additional languages, such as French or Indigenous languages.
- Demonstrated success leading regulatory approvals for major mining, energy, renewables, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong commercial judgment and experience in proposal leadership.
