Principal Cloud & Kubernetes Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead complex Kubernetes platform engineering initiatives across public, private, and on-premises environments
• Own advanced cluster lifecycle activities including provisioning, upgrades, and resource governance
• Lead troubleshooting of complex Kubernetes failures involving control plane, CNI, ingress, and storage
• Drive development of reusable automation using Terraform, Helm, GitOps, and CI/CD pipelines
• Implement Kubernetes security controls including RBAC, network policies, and secrets management
• Improve observability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki
• Mentor Kubernetes Engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and operational coaching

Requirements

• 8-12+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, or SRE roles
• 5+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments
• Strong experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes operations, networking, storage, and security
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps
• Strong Linux, container runtime, and networking troubleshooting skills
• Ability to lead technical workstreams and influence engineering standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise platforms like Rancher, EKS, AKS, or GKE
• Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Cilium
• Knowledge of Kubernetes backup tools like Velero
• Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or financial services
• Certifications: CKA, CKS, CKAD, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate
