Principal Cloud Engineer

Responsibilities

• Operate and extend existing OpenStack-based cloud services
• Lead significant technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers
• Develop and operate end-user services on private and public clouds
• Build automation for metrics collection and observability data
• Maintain AI system fleets at peak performance in collaboration with Datacentre Operations
• Configure and test new AI hardware using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code
• Work with external vendors to integrate third-party products into Cloud Reference Design

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• Proven track record in infrastructure or IT as an individual contributor
• Experience managing on-premises or private-cloud environments
• Proficiency in Agile and Scrum frameworks
• Expert-level Linux scripting (Bash and Python)
• Expert-level Linux system administration (Ubuntu, RHEL)
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub)
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible, Packer)
• Experience with container management (Docker, Podman, Apptainer)
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, OpenTelemetry)
• Strong communication and ability to work independently on critical infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with OpenStack technologies (Ceph, Open vSwitch, KVM, QEMU)
• Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) and SLURM
• Experience managing production Kubernetes clusters
• Experience with workload queue management (LSF, Kueue)
• Experience with managed switch configuration (SONiC, DNOS)
• Programming experience with Python3 (classes/inheritance) and Go
