About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute the startup of a new shell line production process for single crystal airfoil casting at a greenfield site
- Lead the development of shell line production processes, work instructions, and quality requirements
- Transition shell line technology from development laboratories to a fully functional production environment
- Perform preliminary testing and on-site acceptance of new equipment at vendor locations
- Develop and deploy standardized engineering practices, tools, and methods
- Ensure Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) aligns with program requirements during launch and volume ramp
- Act as a subject matter expert for foundry ceramic processes to drive product cost reduction and operational excellence
- Mentor others through standard work, best practices, and risk mitigation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering or a related technical field with 8+ years of experience in aerospace or foundry manufacturing (or an Advanced Degree with 5+ years of experience)
- US Person status required due to government contracts
- Strong knowledge of alumina ceramics, silica-free binders, and shell-build processes for casting reactive metal superalloys
- Experience with laboratory testing procedures and ceramic raw material qualification
- Six Sigma green belt or equivalent
- Strong project engineering, planning, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma black belt or equivalent
- Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- 10 or more years of experience, preferably in ceramic shell processes
- Familiarity with robotic programming and process automation
- Broad knowledge of the aerospace industry and turbine engine parts manufacturing
