About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as a thought leader in the planning, design, and execution of complex bioinformatics projects to support molecular diagnostics and product development.
- Develop, plan, and analyze results from experiments to inform project progression and identify technical discrepancies.
- Independently plan and develop algorithms and determine methods or technologies for future product concepts.
- Provide deep scientific input for experimental design and participate in decisions affecting product development.
- Prepare and present complex data-driven outcomes and technical findings to senior management and at scientific conferences.
- Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio by implementing innovative solutions and assisting with IP filings.
- Train, guide, and mentor junior bioinformatics scientists.
- Generate and communicate detailed technical documentation, including development plans, protocols, and reports.
Requirements
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
- 9+ years of industry or academia experience in bioinformatics.
- 8+ years of experience in molecular diagnostics, biotech, or life science (including IVD/LDT development).
- Demonstrated expertise in genomics and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
- Proven experience in developing statistical and quantitative methods.
- Demonstrated leadership in product or assay research, design, or development.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in medical device, IVD, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience applying advanced statistical learning methods (supervised/unsupervised) and AI techniques like deep learning or neural networks to high-dimensional data.
- Previous experience developing algorithms in Molecular Diagnostics or liquid biopsy NGS.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, DevOps concepts, and design control processes for IVD assay development.
- Experience with project management tools such as SmartSheet or MS Projects.
