Principal BIM Technician - Piping

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D process-piping models, equipment layouts, and design updates for brownfield and greenfield industrial facilities.
• Ensure rigorous QA/QC compliance of all piping deliverables in alignment with WSP and client standards.
• Interpret and apply piping design codes and standards including ASME, ANSI, and API.
• Produce layouts, isometrics, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Coordinate the resolution of design discrepancies and provide technical design support for fit, form, and function.
• Mentor junior modellers and support cross-functional design teams.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and vendors for design reviews and schedule coordination.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in piping modelling and design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Strong proficiency in Navisworks for clash detection and model coordination.
• Solid understanding of international piping codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API).
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-regional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership or active progress toward professional status in bodies such as IET or IMechE.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary, international project teams.
