Principal Backup and Storage System Administrator

Responsibilities

• Provide IT systems administration within heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments
• Design, build, configure, and support scalable physical and virtual backup environments
• Manage backup operations including scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity management
• Develop and test disaster recovery plans, including data restoration and business continuity strategies
• Implement and maintain storage systems to ensure data integrity, availability, and optimal performance
• Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, and tuning
• Provide advanced L2/L3 technical support and troubleshooting for hardware and operating system integrations
• Administer and optimize virtualization platforms
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and documentation
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and best practices

Requirements

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance required prior to start date
• U.S. citizenship is required
• University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of relevant experience
• Experience with Linux or Windows server management
• Proficiency with NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel protocols
• Experience with data RAID and backup technologies
• Experience with VMware vCenter, vSphere, VDI (Horizon), or other virtual computing methods
• Scripting experience
• Experience developing technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• DoDD 8140 / 8570 Certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent)
• Experience with containerization technologies such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, or Ranchu
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
• Experience with NetApp, Tape Libraries, or SAN/NAS technologies
• Experience with Commvault, Veeam, or NetBackup
• Experience with Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions like Centrify
