Principal Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems using Django and PostgreSQL
• Drive key technical decisions and ensure best practices in code structure, testing, and performance optimization
• Own and evolve the backend service ecosystem including APIs, integrations, and internal tools
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend, product, and data
• Guide and mentor backend developers through code reviews and architectural discussions
• Lead initiatives to improve system observability, documentation, and operational excellence
• Evaluate and integrate third-party services such as GPS, OCR, and analytics
• Help shape technical roadmaps and contribute to product strategy

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• 3+ years of experience with Django
• Strong command of Python, Django ORM, RESTful API design, and PostgreSQL
• Experience with system design, caching strategies, and async task queues like Celery
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Sentry
• Exposure to AWS services including EC2, S3, and RDS
• Experience with Docker-based deployments
• Strong communication and mentoring skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in logistics or supply chain technology
