Principal Architect, Executive Director-Business Banking

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable, resilient, cloud-native solutions aligned to business outcomes and long-term platform strategy
• Define and communicate target-state architecture, reference patterns, and technical roadmaps to guide delivery teams
• Partner with product management and experience design to translate customer and business needs into end-to-end technical solutions
• Lead architecture reviews and participate in governance forums to ensure consistency, reuse, and risk-aware design decisions
• Guide teams on secure-by-design practices, privacy considerations, and industry-standard controls
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, including design reviews, code reviews, and complex troubleshooting
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI agent capabilities, to recommend pragmatic adoption paths
• Influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior leaders through clear, structured communication

Requirements

• 10+ years of applied architecture experience, including hands-on delivery of system design and application development
• Deep knowledge of software architecture and specialization in areas such as cloud platforms, AI, or machine learning
• Practical experience designing and delivering cloud-native architectures (e.g., containerization, service-oriented design)
• Proven experience providing technical leadership across multiple teams through the full project lifecycle
• Demonstrable experience applying AI agent capabilities to improve engineering productivity or customer outcomes
• Strong communication skills with experience presenting architectural decisions to senior executives

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing platforms and products supporting Business Banking or small business client journeys
• Experience operating in large, regulated environments with strong alignment to security and risk management
• Experience defining platform standards and enabling adoption through reusable patterns and developer enablement
• Experience as a product owner or product manager, including backlog shaping and roadmap influence
