Principal Architect, Executive Director: Business Banking Digital

Responsibilities

• Architect cloud-native, scalable application platforms and reference architectures to improve reliability and customer experience.
• Translate business and product strategy into end-to-end technical designs, including integration patterns and data flows.
• Establish and enforce architectural guardrails for security, resiliency, performance, and maintainability.
• Lead technical decision-making by facilitating design reviews, trade-off discussions, and architecture governance.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including agent-based and autonomous workflow technologies, for product adoption.
• Partner with product management and design to ensure solutions are responsive, accessible, and aligned with customer needs.
• Communicate architecture strategy and technical risks clearly to senior leaders and executives.

Requirements

• 10+ years of applied architecture experience, including hands-on delivery of system design and application development for large-scale platforms.
• Proven experience supporting digital channels and designing architectures for high-availability, customer-facing applications.
• Advanced knowledge of software architecture and modern engineering practices (e.g., cloud, AI, ML, or mobile).
• Practical experience designing and operating cloud-native solutions, including containerization and service-based architectures.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages with the ability to guide implementation and code quality.
• Demonstrable experience applying agent-based and autonomous workflow technologies to improve productivity or reliability.
• Strong ability to influence senior leaders and drive technical roadmaps.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in business banking products, workflows, or customer journeys.
• Familiarity with large-scale digital ecosystems and multi-product integration patterns.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
