Principal Architect - Digital Assets

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and build of Barclays’ next-generation Digital Asset Platform, focusing on tokenization, wallets, and real-time settlement.
• Drive end-to-end ownership of platform architecture and development execution to ensure scalability and production readiness.
• Design a multi-network, multi-asset platform that enables interoperability across various networks, tokenized assets, and banking rails.
• Collaborate with solution architects, engineers, product owners, and DevOps teams to drive architecture into production.
• Set technical standards and provide hands-on leadership and coaching to build teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Lead architecture for live use cases, including tokenized deposits and securities.
• Assess new technologies and implement optimal solutions while balancing compliance, governance, and security requirements.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in Digital Asset platforms, including tokenization, wallet/custody services, and smart contract integration.
• Hands-on experience with L1 and L2 networks, on-chain compliance, and interoperability frameworks within a regulated financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of cryptographic services, including HSM and MPC.
• Proven experience in end-to-end platform design, including APIs, orchestration layers, and distributed systems.
• Ability to lead complex technical projects and influence senior stakeholders.
• Proficiency in using AI-enabled tooling to accelerate architecture design and optimize delivery productivity.
• Strong understanding of security, risk, and control frameworks in regulated technology environments.
