Principal AME Equipment Engineer, General Assembly

Responsibilities

• Define and implement long-term process and equipment strategy for General Assembly lines
• Lead the entire equipment lifecycle from concept and specification to installation and commissioning
• Lead process and flow planning, layout, and installation of new General Assembly lines
• Act as the technical expert for automation, robotics, machine vision, and control systems
• Manage equipment suppliers, technical discussions, and vendor negotiations
• Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) efforts to optimize vehicle designs
• Drive continuous improvement for equipment performance, uptime, yield, and cycle time
• Collaborate with Vehicle Design, Quality, Operations, and Facilities teams

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering
• 8+ years focused on General Assembly equipment in automotive EV or high-volume manufacturing
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering
• Expertise in robotic applications (Kuka, Fanuc), conveyance, nut running, and fluid fill
• Strong understanding of automation, machine vision (Cognex, Keyence), and control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD)
• Proven project management experience for large-scale equipment projects
• Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a startup environment
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
