Principal AI Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term technical vision and architectural design for Snowflake Intelligence, including multi-agent systems and self-correcting NL-to-SQL engines
• Build automated "hill-climbing" infrastructure to measure and guarantee LLM performance across diverse customer schemas
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to align AI capabilities with business goals
• Bridge the gap between Research and Production to ensure LLM breakthroughs are viable at scale
• Design extensible context engineering patterns, including advanced function calling and semantic layer integration
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers and lead cross-functional strike teams on high-stakes projects

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years leading the deployment of LLM-based applications at massive scale
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, AI, or a related field
• Deep expertise in LLM orchestration, prompt optimization, and semantic modeling
• Proven track record of designing systems integrating AI with traditional data stacks (SQL, Retrieval Systems)
• Previous experience in a Principal or equivalent high-level IC role
