Principal AI Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of six direct reports, focusing on career development and team health
• Own the technical strategy and execution for the CK AI Service
• Design and govern retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows and API expansion
• Improve delivery velocity, reduce bottlenecks, and eliminate single points of failure
• Drive standardization and cross-functional alignment as the platform matures
• Collaborate with the Data Science team to drive product roadmaps and feature design

Requirements

• Proven experience mentoring and growing engineering teams
• Deep expertise in designing and delivering distributed systems and APIs at scale
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing RAG workflows
• Strong understanding of LLM integration, orchestration, and embeddings
• Proficiency with vector search, retrieval pipelines, and ranking strategies
• Experience with microservices architecture and system integration
• Ability to define technical strategies that balance short-term delivery with long-term sustainability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI-powered APIs and services for production environments
• Ability to govern and standardize AI patterns, including evaluation and observability
• Experience establishing scalable team structures and leadership models
