Principal AI Research Engineer - RL

About the Company

Reflex Robotics is building affordable wheeled humanoid robots to automate dangerous and repetitive tasks in manufacturing and logistics. Backed by Khosla Ventures, our team consists of engineers who previously led development at Boston Dynamics and Tesla. We are building a proprietary data engine to create the world's largest robotics dataset and highly capable AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust on-policy RL policies for real-world robot deployments
• Work to bridge the gap between base policy success rates and the 99.99% reliability required for commercial use
• Utilize high-quality demonstration data to train increasingly capable AI systems
• Shape the product and technical direction from the ground up in a high-ownership environment

Requirements

• Proven experience re-implementing core RL algorithms (e.g., SAC, DDPG) from scratch
• Ability to debug unstable gradients and tune hyperparameters effectively
• Meaningful intellectual contributions to sample-efficient RL algorithms (e.g., DreamerV3, MuZero)
• Experience shipping on-policy RL on physical hardware (e.g., quadrupeds, drones, or similar)
• Strong work ethic and passion for solving complex engineering challenges
