About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop, demonstrate, and document design methodologies and tools for additive manufacturing using conventional CAD and implicit modeling
  • Enhance design tools through the development of custom modules and scripts
  • Perform topology optimization for geometries across structural, thermal, or hydrodynamic domains
  • Execute Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) projects to support business unit adoption of AM components
  • Define AM software tools and methodologies to create unified toolchains
  • Establish relationships with government, industry, and academic partners to lead whitepaper and proposal development
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to business units to increase additive adoption rates
  • Manage multiple design, development, and demonstration projects

Requirements

  • University Engineering Degree or equivalent with 8+ years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 5+ years of experience
  • Expert CAD proficiency, preferably with Siemens NX
  • Advanced scripting skills in Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript, or similar
  • Experience with implicit modeling tools such as nTop, including custom block development
  • Understanding of laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing processes
  • Experience with finite element analysis (Ansys, Abaqus, or COMSOL)
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
