Preventive Maintenance and Mechanic Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on district vehicles, including oil changes and filter replacements
• Assist mechanics with the maintenance and repair of the school district’s motor vehicles
• Wash school buses and other district vehicles as needed
• Notify the shop supervisor immediately regarding any mechanical conditions that pose a safety risk
• Operate lift equipment and decrement devices on special needs equipment vehicles
• Comply with all environmental safety laws and chemical MSDS guidelines
• Follow all district and transportation department policies and procedures

Requirements

• Valid Class C driver’s license (copy must be submitted with application)
• Ability to drive standard shift vehicles
• Ability to operate lift equipment
• Knowledge of oil change procedures for school buses and other district vehicles
• Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, lifting, stooping, and repetitive motions
• Ability to work in various environments, including exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
