Press Operator 1

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain single or multi-color offset press
• Perform all make-ready tasks including hanging plates, installing cylinders, and prepping blankets
• Examine plates and cylinders for imperfections and ensure correct image positioning
• Make necessary color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specifications
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, performing minor repairs and replacing worn parts
• Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer

Requirements

• Knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment, and safety requirements
• Ability to read and understand job specifications for press set-up
• Understanding of press capabilities for efficient operation and corrective adjustments
• Knowledge of packing pressure requirements for different job types
• Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates
• Ability to perform routine operational maintenance and minor equipment repairs
• Skill in adjusting feeder and feed board components such as suctions, blast, and guides
