About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with a lead guide to plan, implement, and manage the classroom using Montessori principles
- Manage the physical care and daily safety of children in accordance with licensing guidelines
- Observe and document child development regularly to prepare and maintain the learning environment
- Model appropriate pro-social behavior and utilize positive discipline strategies to redirect children
- Build respectful relationships with families, children, and co-teachers that honor diversity
- Provide developmental reports to parents and conduct parent conferences three times per year
- Collaborate with co-teachers on curriculum planning, environmental design, and classroom challenges
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
Requirements
- 3 years of experience working in early childhood education
- Knowledge of Montessori/RIE caregiving techniques
- Knowledge of Positive Discipline strategies
- Strong observation and documentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lift, move, or hold children weighing up to 60 pounds
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required by the environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
- Master's degree in a related field
- MACTE Accredited Montessori certification
- 5+ years of experience in Montessori programming
- Fluency in languages other than English
- Experience working with neurodivergent children in a group setting
