Preschool Assistant Director

Responsibilities

• Support, coach, and develop teaching teams through training and mentorship
• Ensure classrooms are organized, safe, and aligned with educational philosophy
• Partner with leadership on enrollment and family engagement
• Support curriculum implementation and child outcomes
• Build relationships with children, families, and staff
• Ensure compliance with Illinois DCFS licensing and health/safety regulations
• Support staffing, scheduling, and daily school operations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
• Must meet Illinois Director Qualification requirements under DCFS Part 407
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a licensed preschool or childcare center
• Experience in roles such as Center Director, Assistant Director, or Program Director
• Demonstrated knowledge of Illinois DCFS Licensing Standards
• Experience supervising and coaching early childhood educators

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience opening or expanding enrollment in a preschool program
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Experience with Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or inquiry-based approaches
