Premed Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising and professional school application support to students aiming for careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and other health professions.
• Conduct individual and group meetings to guide students through the application process and special topics.
• Critique draft application components, such as personal statements, and provide detailed, constructive feedback.
• Facilitate mock interviews and manage the distribution of information regarding summer programs, internships, and research positions.
• Manage administrative tasks for the Premedical Office, including processing letters of evaluation and maintaining student records.
• Advise and manage the Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society chapter.
• Coordinate on-campus visits from professional school representatives and assist with recruitment events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a biological science, psychology, counseling/mental health, or a related education discipline.
• At least one year of experience in academic advising, health career counseling, or professional/graduate school application support.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Professional, and data management software such as FileMakerPro or Banner.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide effective feedback in both group and individual settings.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work with minimal supervision, and maintain professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a biological science, psychology, counseling/mental health, or a related education discipline.
• At least two years of experience providing health professions school application guidance to undergraduate students.
• Professional licensure in a counseling or mental health field.
