About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and scholarship regarding the historical ideas, traditions, and texts that shaped the American constitutional order and society
  • Lead up to four weekly discussion seminars per semester for the flagship civics course, The American Republic
  • Design and deliver research-related seminars and workshops for colleagues and the wider university community
  • Participate in-person in public events sponsored by the Center
  • Engage with primary core texts, including the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Federalist Papers, to facilitate student learning

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in history, political science, sociology, anthropology, or a related field
  • Full-time enrollment in a terminal degree program
  • Achievement of All But Dissertation (ABD) status
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to reside in the Greater Cleveland Area for the duration of the fellowship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in academic research writing
  • Previous teaching or seminar leadership experience
  • Advanced knowledge in interdisciplinary fields such as philosophy, economics, literature, or classics
