Practice Medical Assistant Orthopedics

Responsibilities

• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and update medication and allergy lists in the EMR
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations, including stocking and cleaning
• Assist providers with physical examinations and clinical procedures
• Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms
• Manage phone calls, identify patient concerns, and direct calls per practice guidelines
• Schedule patient appointments and process referrals
• Inventory and order medical supplies, ensuring proper labeling and removal of outdated materials
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization
• Use software such as Cerner and GroupWise for documentation and initiating orders

Requirements

• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED certification
• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program preferred
• Or equivalent healthcare experience (e.g., EMT, LNA, Military Medic, or Technician)
• At least 1 year of healthcare experience preferred for non-accredited program graduates
