About the role
Responsibilities
- Interview patients, measure vital signs, and update medication and allergy lists in the EMR
- Prepare treatment rooms for examinations, including stocking and cleaning
- Assist providers with physical examinations and clinical procedures
- Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms
- Manage phone calls, identify patient concerns, and direct calls per practice guidelines
- Schedule patient appointments and process referrals
- Inventory and order medical supplies, ensuring proper labeling and removal of outdated materials
- Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization
- Use software such as Cerner and GroupWise for documentation and initiating orders
Requirements
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED certification
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program preferred
- Or equivalent healthcare experience (e.g., EMT, LNA, Military Medic, or Technician)
- At least 1 year of healthcare experience preferred for non-accredited program graduates
