About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for Specialty Lines Risk Control to maintain consistency and depth across the discipline.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentoring to Specialists and Senior Specialists to ensure high technical quality in all deliverables.
  • Partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and profitably grow a high-quality book of business.
  • Conduct risk assessment evaluations for highly complex, high-severity, or multi-location accounts.
  • Lead mentorship programs to recruit and develop the technical capabilities of the Risk Control team.
  • Provide research and project management support for strategic initiatives and systems enhancements.
  • Perform quality assurance (QA) on technical reports to ensure accuracy and actionable recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Safety, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in Risk Control, Safety, or Loss Prevention with increasing technical responsibility.
  • Proven experience in mentoring and coaching professionals.
  • Deep subject-matter expertise in property or casualty lines.
  • Strong analytical skills for loss analysis and risk modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client-ready reporting.
  • For candidates based in Quebec, bilingualism (English/French) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or professional certifications such as CSP, ARM, CFPS, or P.E.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving best practices without formal authority.
