Powertrain DRE

Responsibilities

• Lead the lifecycle management of critical engine components from initial concept through to final vehicle production.
• Own and maintain the component Bill of Materials (BOM) and execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) using PLM systems.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to optimize packaging and conduct Digital Mock-Up (DMU) reviews.
• Act as the primary technical interface with Tier 1 suppliers, overseeing APQP and PPAP milestones.
• Define and review Design Verification Plans and Report (DVP&R) requirements.
• Analyze physical test data and lead root-cause analysis for component failures using 8D or Fishbone methodologies.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, and Plant Engineering to ensure successful production launches.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Design Release Engineer within the automotive sector.
• Specific expertise in powertrain or engine components (e.g., blocks, heads, valvetrain, or cooling).
• Strong proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including casting, machining, and injection molding.
• Professional fluency in both English and Spanish.
