Power Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Guide the design of electrical microgrid power systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with electrical industry standards, codes, and regulations, including islanding configurations.
• Lead power systems studies and verify installation and grid code compliance.
• Provide technical expertise in power distribution, protection, and control systems.
• Support grid code testing for conventional generation and oversee the preparation of detailed engineering reports and specifications.
• Work closely with design and infrastructure teams to define system requirements and develop innovative microgrid solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Power Systems or a related field.
• Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience working with power generation and distribution systems.
• Deep understanding of the architecture and operation of MW scale electricity generation systems.
• Experience with IBR/Conventional Generators, including modelling, protection, analysis, and/or testing.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of plant and converter control configurations of IBR systems, including implementation, commissioning, and testing.
• Familiarity with functional and electrical safety standards and EMC (e.g., IEC 61800 5-1, IEC 60204.1, IEC 61000 series).
• Working knowledge of ISA, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, and NFPA electrical codes and standards.
