About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the start, stop, and monitoring of power plant equipment, including reading gauges and recording activities in operating logs.
- Use computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record, and make adjustments within operating parameters.
- Perform plant maintenance tasks, including the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Conduct chemical analysis and control on steam, cooling, and condensate systems while maintaining chemistry logs.
- Assist in developing standard operational procedures and providing input for plant efficiency, reliability, and safety improvements.
- Ensure strict compliance with all local, State, and Federal regulations and plant procedures.
- Operate heavy equipment such as manlifts and forklifts and handle the transfer of bulk chemicals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, technical/vocational school degree, military service, or equivalent.
- At least 6 years of directly related experience, including knowledge of health and safety regulations and handling hazardous energy, chemicals, and waste.
- Proven experience using test equipment and calibration appliances.
- Experience with machinery repair and control systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Must hold a State of Maine Boiler or Stationary Engineer’s License, or possess the qualifications to meet State Licensing Requirements.
