About the role
Responsibilities
- Directly manage and grow a team of junior and senior power engineers
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define spacecraft power requirements and architectures
- Oversee the design, build, and implementation of power converters and systems
- Manage detailed schedules to ensure power systems development aligns with the overall program schedule
- Drive power converter design, including specification, component selection, circuit board design, verification, and debugging
- Support recruiting, interviewing, and hiring to expand the power engineering team
- Support production and mission operations teams regarding the build and in-flight use of hardware
Requirements
- B.S. or higher in electrical engineering or a similar technical degree
- 5+ years of professional experience with fast-paced product design cycles
- 5+ years of board-level experience designing power electronics hardware from concept through production
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage engineering teams and communicate across disciplines
- Proven ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch
- US Citizenship or Green Card required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with photovoltaics
- Experience with Li-ion batteries and management systems
- Experience with magnetics in power electronics
- Knowledge of radiation effects
