About the role

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and grow a team of junior and senior power engineers
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define spacecraft power requirements and architectures
  • Oversee the design, build, and implementation of power converters and systems
  • Manage detailed schedules to ensure power systems development aligns with the overall program schedule
  • Drive power converter design, including specification, component selection, circuit board design, verification, and debugging
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, and hiring to expand the power engineering team
  • Support production and mission operations teams regarding the build and in-flight use of hardware

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher in electrical engineering or a similar technical degree
  • 5+ years of professional experience with fast-paced product design cycles
  • 5+ years of board-level experience designing power electronics hardware from concept through production
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage engineering teams and communicate across disciplines
  • Proven ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch
  • US Citizenship or Green Card required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with photovoltaics
  • Experience with Li-ion batteries and management systems
  • Experience with magnetics in power electronics
  • Knowledge of radiation effects
