About the role

About the Company

At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and integration of hybrid propulsion, including inverters, motors, and HV cables
  • Act as Responsible Engineer focusing on power electronics and high voltage electrical systems integration
  • Take full ownership over design, fabrication, commissioning, and certification of the hybrid propulsion system
  • Lead and execute system-level tests, such as motor and propeller test stands
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivery of integrated, certifiable subsystems
  • Model electrical and power electronics systems in a high fidelity Digital Twin
  • Perform topology selection trade studies

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Electronics or Power Systems
  • 2+ years of professional experience with power electronics components
  • Strong experience in high voltage power electronics design (+800V) including AC/DC inverters and DC/DC converters
  • Strong understanding of HV filter design, grounding analysis, and coordination of protective devices
  • Hands-on experience with propulsion or powertrain test stands, instrumentation, and controls
  • Extensive experience with Altium, Cadence, or similar, and circuit analysis (Spice)
  • Proficiency with C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink, or PLECS
  • Strong knowledge of Avionics communication (ARINC, CAN, Ethernet)
  • Strong understanding of Microcontrollers, Multicore processors, Firmware Development, and digital power conversion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of certification requirements (EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25)
  • Knowledge of hardware design and airworthiness DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160
  • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC design and strategies
  • Hands on experience with Matlab/Simulink Auto Code Generation
