About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize advanced control algorithms for high-power BESS, focusing on grid-forming and grid-following synchronization
  • Develop bidirectional DC/DC and AC/DC control schemes for industrial-scale storage
  • Build high-fidelity Digital Twins of power stages and grid environments using PLECS and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Architect and lead Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing environments using Opal-RT or Typhoon
  • Collaborate with battery and systems teams to optimize performance of mixed-asset arrays
  • Partner with electrical, firmware, and thermal engineers to define the roadmap for energy storage site controllers

Requirements

  • MSc in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of industry experience or a PhD
  • Mastery of resonant topologies (LLC, CLLC, DAB) and multi-level architectures (FC, ANPC)
  • Proven ability to design robust closed-loop controllers (Bode, Nyquist, State-Space)
  • Expert-level proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS
  • Strong proficiency in C for real-time embedded systems
  • Experience with Python for automation and data analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with grid-interconnection codes such as IEEE 1547 and UL 1741
  • Experience implementing controls on digital signal processors (DSPs) or microcontrollers
