Potable Water & Wastewater Treatment Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor potable water treatment systems including filtration, chlorination, and distribution
• Manage wastewater treatment processes such as aeration, clarification, and sludge handling
• Perform routine sampling and laboratory testing for pH, turbidity, chlorine residual, BOD, and TSS
• Adjust chemical dosing and system controls to ensure regulatory compliance
• Maintain accurate operational logs, lab records, and compliance reports for TCEQ and EPA standards
• Conduct preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, blowers, and instrumentation
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process issues
• Follow OSHA safety standards and handle chemicals safely

Requirements

• TCEQ Water Treatment Certification (Class D minimum required)
• 1–5+ years of experience in water or wastewater operations
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Ability to work rotating shifts, on-call duties, and emergency response requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in environmental science or engineering technology
• Experience with SCADA systems and automated controls
• Confined space entry and HAZWOPER training
• First Aid/CPR certification
