About the role
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor potable water treatment systems including filtration, chlorination, and disinfection
- Manage wastewater treatment processes such as aeration, clarification, and sludge handling
- Perform routine sampling and laboratory testing for pH, turbidity, chlorine residual, BOD, and TSS
- Adjust chemical dosing and system controls to maintain regulatory compliance
- Maintain accurate operational logs, lab records, and compliance reports
- Conduct preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, blowers, and instrumentation
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process issues
- Follow OSHA safety standards and handle chemicals safely
Requirements
- TCEQ Water Treatment Certification (Class D minimum; Class C, B, or A preferred based on system complexity)
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- 1–5+ years of experience in water/wastewater operations
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Ability to work rotating shifts, on-call, and in industrial environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in environmental science or engineering technology
- Experience with SCADA systems and automated controls
- Confined space entry and HAZWOPER training
- First Aid/CPR certification
