About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct original discipline-based education research (DBER) in collaboration with faculty mentors.
- Teach one three-credit undergraduate course per semester in Mathematics, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
- Present research findings at national and regional conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals and research addressing STEM student success and retention.
- Implement and assess active learning pedagogies and course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs).
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, or a related STEM field.
- Alternatively, a Ph.D. in STEM Education or a related field with content knowledge in one of the aforementioned STEM disciplines.
- Demonstrated training and experience in education research.
- Experience in undergraduate course design and the implementation of active learning strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience researching the impact of undergraduate mathematics curriculum on STEM retention.
- Experience with cohort-building practices that support student persistence in STEM careers.
