About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assess virus establishment and movement in sweetpotato plants, focusing on virus coinfection dynamics
  • Conduct multidisciplinary insect-mediated virus transmission experiments in both greenhouse and laboratory settings
  • Manage research projects and maintain detailed experimental data
  • Train students and visiting scholars within the Plant Virology Lab
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and lab members to advance research goals

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in plant pathology, entomology, or a related field
  • Experience in virus-vector dynamics and virus transmission
  • Proficiency in molecular virus detection techniques
  • Experience conducting experiments in laboratory and greenhouse environments
  • Strong project management skills and a proven publication record
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for scientific collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with sweetpotato or other root crops
  • Advanced expertise in molecular biology related to plant viruses
