About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess virus establishment and movement in sweetpotato plants, focusing on virus coinfection dynamics
- Conduct multidisciplinary insect-mediated virus transmission experiments in both greenhouse and laboratory settings
- Manage research projects and maintain detailed experimental data
- Train students and visiting scholars within the Plant Virology Lab
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and lab members to advance research goals
Requirements
- Ph.D. in plant pathology, entomology, or a related field
- Experience in virus-vector dynamics and virus transmission
- Proficiency in molecular virus detection techniques
- Experience conducting experiments in laboratory and greenhouse environments
- Strong project management skills and a proven publication record
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for scientific collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with sweetpotato or other root crops
- Advanced expertise in molecular biology related to plant viruses
