About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage independent research projects in zoological and wildlife medicine.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on multi-scholar research initiatives.
- Analyze and interpret data using appropriate statistical methods.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific meetings.
- Assist with grant writing, including proposal development and reporting.
- Mentor undergraduate, veterinary, and graduate students.
- Provide clinical care for wildlife patients, including physical examinations, diagnostics, treatment, anesthesia, and surgery.
- Participate in emergency response and triage for injured or ill wildlife species.
- Ensure compliance with institutional animal care, biosafety, and research regulations.
Requirements
- DVM degree.
- Related coursework in Zoological and Wildlife Medicine.
- Ability to work both in laboratory and outdoor environments.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD degree.
- 3 years of applicable research or clinical experience.
- Experience in zoological or wildlife clinical practice or research settings.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity (peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations).
- Experience with grant writing or participation in funded research.
- Familiarity with molecular diagnostics, epidemiology, and advanced imaging.
