Postdoctoral Researcher - Cybersecurity and Machine Learning

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine learning and deep learning models to detect cybersecurity threats such as network attacks, ransomware, and botnets.
• Work with structured and unstructured network data, including NetFlow, pcaps packet captures, and logs.
• Implement data preprocessing pipelines, feature engineering, and model evaluation frameworks.
• Build and validate functional prototypes within operational environments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of cybersecurity and machine learning experts.
• Publish research findings in high-impact journals and international conferences.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a closely related field.
• Strong background in machine learning and deep learning, specifically supervised and unsupervised methods.
• Proven proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience developing AI models for attack identification and mitigation in simulated or real network environments.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and datasets (e.g., Zeek, Caldera, Suricata, Snort, Wireshark).
• Solid understanding of intrusion detection systems, threat models, and attack vectors.
• Strong scientific writing skills and a proven publication record.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

• Experience with generative AI applied to cybersecurity.
