Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments, including the development of novel methodologies
• Analyse complex data using computational and statistical tools
• Contribute intellectually to research direction and identify opportunities for innovation
• Prepare and publish high-quality scientific papers, reports, and protocols
• Present research at national and international conferences
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within GBI, EIT, and external partners
• Mentor and support junior researchers, including PhD students and research assistants
• Translate research findings into commercial or translational opportunities

Requirements

• PhD in synthetic biology, bioengineering, genetics, molecular biology, evolutionary biology, computational biology, AI, cell biology, genomics, robotics, automation, or chemical biology
• Track record of completing ambitious research projects to a high standard
• Skilled in experimental and/or computational techniques and data analysis
• Experience publishing in high-impact journals and presenting at international conferences
• Ability to work independently and solve complex problems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced research environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with orthogonal DNA replication (OrthoRep) or accelerated gene evolution
• Expertise in antibody sequence-affinity datasets or enzyme sequence-function maps
