Postdoctoral Research Fellow, AI in Optimisation

Responsibilities

• Advance cutting-edge research on AI methods for model-based and black-box optimisation.
• Develop, test, and maintain open-source optimisation tools, integrating AI methods and MiniZinc.
• Publish high-quality journal and conference papers and present research at international seminars and industry engagements.
• Co-supervise and mentor honours, Masters, and PhD students to support impactful research outputs.
• Build collaborations with industry partners and contribute to funding proposals and centre governance.

Requirements

• PhD in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of AI tools, including machine learning methods and generative AI platforms.
• Demonstrated research excellence in optimisation or related fields.
• Expertise in areas such as operations research, constraint programming, or evolutionary computation.
• Experience supervising or mentoring research students and working within multidisciplinary teams.

• Experience contributing to competitive grant applications.
• Ability to engage productively with external industry stakeholders and partners.
